- provides a space devoted to the conceptual framework known as Hodges' model. Read about this tool that can help integrate HEALTH, SOCIAL CARE, INFORMATICS and EDUCATION. The model can facilitate PERSON-CENTREDNESS, CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT, HOLISTIC CARE and REFLECTION. Follow the development of a new website using Drupal (it might happen one day!!). If healthcare is to significantly reduce patient harm, a holistic perspective is necessary to capture the requirements and needs related to the culture, workflow, and technology associated with caring for patients. In this paper, we relate the problem to other industries and how these industries have addressed safety. We identify the current gaps in today’s healthcare approach and describe the actions that can be taken, and the change in mental models that must be made by the global healthcare community, to continuously improve patient safety. p.3 [my emphasis]
Now you may store more and more data about what your user is doing with the H5Ps you create. How many attempts did she use? What scores did she get? How much time did she spend? All of this is available now, and more statements will be added - when did she stop the video? What did she answer when? What slides has she seen?
You may also use the xAPI to adapt to what the user does in the H5P. For instance you may display more content on a completed event with full score. H5P uses xAPI internally for the adaptivity, in the question set and in the presentation content types.
The Twilight of Human Rights Law, Posner
We have tended to focus on problems in isolation, one harm at a time, and our efforts have been simplistic and myopic.
To significantly reduce patient harm, we need to adopt a holistic, systematic approach that extends across cultural, technological and procedural boundaries - one that is based on the evidence of what works.
Taking its lead from developments in highway and airline safety, the report* argues in favour of a holistic approach, integrated systems, comprehensive risk assessment and performance reporting, regulation and the creation of a "science for safety".

With apologies to readers from further afield, but this may still be of interest...
For my studies in technology enhanced learning [TEL], Hodges' model and current module at Lancaster I am interested in researching student nurse and social care workers experience of technology enhanced learning and e-portfolios. In return I can introduce Hodges' model and provide a 'certificate' denoting your attendance and engagement.
Based in the NW England I plan to see what free venues are available. In the first instance I am considering Wigan, Ormskirk, Manchester, Liverpool and Preston probably early evenings for at max 2hr 30mins. If there is of interest perhaps we could meet regularly?
This project for assessment and evaluation of TEL may also include an online survey. E-portfolios are much discussed, but how widely are they are used? Similarly how well are learning management systems utilised? My brief study hopes to consider these questions and will of course incorporate the literature.
The study will also go through ethics and I'd be happy to respond to questions. A focus group is my initial thought...

|Hodges' model can do 'envelopes', but it's first form is as an aide-mémoire. In this way it helps facilitate reflection, reflective practice and more besides.||Envelopes are just a start, the germ of ideas. Hodges' model needs to be evidence based - can you assist?|
|If you need to share your reflections as case formulations, care plans, or evaluations; the model can help to engage with patients, clients, carers, staff and residents...||Amid healthcare's legacy issue which is achieving integrated, person-centred and holistic care, Hodges' model can help the practitioner assure integrity on several levels (6Cs).|

Attending and presenting at the 4th conference 2013 in Jordan was an amazing experience! I do hope to visit again, but this year I am travelling to New York with family at the end of April.
"Over the past 5 years, we have been involved in conducting a design experiment aimed at helping us understand teachers’ development toward rich uses of technology while simultaneously helping teachers—both K–12 teachers and university faculty—develop their teaching with technology.
In this particular context, the implications of developing a framework go beyond a coherent way of thinking about technology integration. We argue that a conceptually based theoretical framework about the relationship between technology and teaching can transform the conceptualization and the practice of teacher education, teacher training, and teachers' professional development. It can also have a significant impact on the kinds of research questions we explore." p.1019.

Subject: Some Direction if Possible - Nurse Leaders
I have been tasked with locating the appropriate person/s within your organisation regarding attending Leading Through Change - Nurse Leaders, which takes place on 5th May 2015 at the University of Salford.
The one day seminar delivered with the Pacific Institute for nurse leaders will enable the participant to fully understand their organisation and allow them to understand how to break down silos and barriers in order to work more collaboratively. Delegates will be left with a foundation upon which they can build a leadership framework that can be rolled out more extensively moving forward.
Those who attend the day will return to their workplace with the basic tools that will allow them to:
"Having attended a number of NHS leadership courses over a number of years, this has been the best. I will be recommending, excellent" - Braintree Community Hospital (Serco Health)
"Thank you, this event has refulled me as a leader and given me the confidence to continue leading on patient safety" - Lancashire Teaching Hospital NHS Trust
"This is the best leadership training I have attended" - In-Mind
"Inspiring, thought provoking, motivating" - Pennine Care NHS Trust
