We have been asked to extend this survey (https://opinio.ucl.ac.uk/s?s=80453) for a further month in line with the time previous surveys ran. It will therefore close on Tuesday 11th April straight after Easter. This is because a lot of people are part way through and in addition a number of people had not seen the save button which appears at the bottom of each survey page. We would further note that the survey is intended to be neither remain or leave in its questioning – both sides have queried this. We are keen to understand perspectives of the ICT/information sectors following Brexit. We appreciate everyone’s time and perspectives on this. Brexit has been a significant change for the UK and EU, including in the contexts of  the ICT sector and those who manage information, whether in the public or private sectors. At the three-year departure point we are seeking the views of information professionals on the shifting opportunities and threats for the ICT/information sector in the light of Brexit. Whilst Brexit was a UK decision, it has had potentially global ramifications and therefore we are looking to draw in perspectives from across the globe. We understand that there will be differing views both negative and positive – we want to hear all these perspectives.

We would be so grateful if you would respond to this survey at  - it will take 10-20 minutes to complete depending on if you just check the multiple-choice boxes or if you wish to share further written comments. All questions are optional. The survey is anonymous and no IP addresses are being collected. We know that you are busy and appreciate your time. The survey will close on 11th April 2023.

The results of this survey will be published in an open access form. Please note this survey follows four earlier surveys charting change through the Brexit process, the first immediately after the Referendum (written up at: https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0186452), one at a mid-point which was accompanied by workshops (written up at: https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0227089) and the others from the transition points onwards. Whether or not you have completed any earlier surveys, we would appreciate your input now. This is likely to be the last survey we publish tracing the changes.

At the request of the U.S. Institute of Medicine Roundtable of Health Literacy, I am preparing a background paper on health literacy activities around the world. To support that effort, I have created an online survey tool to gather information on how health literacy is being put into policy and practice in national, state, and local governments, the European Union, the United Nations, the business community, non-governmental and non-profit organizations, and within the education sector.

Our goal is to learn what is going on in the field of health literacy in as many nations as possible [*see note below] - and your assistance in both responding to the survey and sharing the survey with your colleagues is critically important. Amazing open access Townsend Archive - Poverty in the UK materials

The Townsend archive provides open access to a range of original documents underlying the 1967/68 Poverty in the UK survey led by Peter Townsend. This survey pioneered the application of relative deprivation in measuring poverty.

The archive includes over 2500 digitised questionnaires from the survey. On these questionnaires you will find hand-written notes made, at the time of the interview, by the survey field workers. They provide telling details of the living standards and attitudes of that time. They are searchable by region, interviewer and survey booklet number.

The archive also covers a range of other papers associated with the administration and conception of the survey and notes and drafts of Townsend’s book. You can also download Townsend’s ‘Poverty in the United Kingdom’ book.

You will also find video interviews with researchers, fieldworkers and colleagues involved in, or associated with, the Poverty in the UK survey. David Donnison, Hilary Land, Adrian Sinfield, John Veit-Wilson and others reflect back on this landmark project. These interviews provide unparalleled insights into survey and research methods then and now, the relationship between social policy research and policy making across the last 45 years, and the impact, or otherwise, of research on tackling poverty.

You are invited to participate in the development of the World Health Organization (WHO) maternal well-being framework through an online survey. 

This consultation is one step in a broader process led by the WHO Department of Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health and Ageing (MCA) towards creating a comprehensive framework that supports maternal well-being across diverse environments and cultures. Based on the results of a scoping review of the literature and an expert consultation held in May 2023, a preliminary framework has been developed including a definition, domains and subdomains. WHO/MCA is now organizing multiple consultations which objectives are listed below. 

What is the purpose of the survey?

• Ensure comprehensive coverage of all critical elements of the framework and identify potential gaps in the definition, domains and framework of maternal well-being.
• Evaluate the framework’s applicability across various settings and cultures.

As part of my Masters, I am writing a dissertation on the challenges faced by record-keepers in the digital age and how Artificial intelligence might be used to rectify these challenges.  I am currently conducting a survey to collect as many perspectives and opinions as possible from professionals working within the sector, where the data collected will form the basis of my dissertation research.

Call for Participants: Survey on Trauma-Informed Archival Practice

Dear all,

My name is Emily Hill, I am a current master's student at the University of Glasgow completing my dissertation titled: 

 

To what extent is Trauma-Informed Archival Practice understood and used within the Archival Sector? How effective are the methods of support available to Archivists? 

The aim of this dissertation is to explore the breadth of knowledge within the Archival sector surrounding Trauma-Informed Archival Practice, where professionals have learned about Trauma theory and if the mental health and secondary trauma support available is accessible and effective. There is no prior knowledge of Trauma-Informed Practice needed to participate, as these concepts are explained within the Participant information forms. 

Participation in this survey will take approximately 15 minutes, including the Participant Information and Agreement forms which should be viewed and signed before participation in the survey questions. 

All survey responses are received anonymised, with the data being analysed in correlation with other respondent data on a question-by-question basis.

A survey: Nurse Lecturers undergraduate students, e-learning, e-portfolios, innovation in reflective skills

For the latest module in my TEL studies at Lancaster University Researching Technology Enhanced/Networked Learning, Teaching and Assessment I'd wondered about a focus group combined with a survey. The constraints remain non-trivial doing this part-time and from outside academia - in practice. This past week I've also attended the final residential of part 1 (more on this soon). Returning to the module's study, the focus group isn't going to happen and with Easter upon us this is not the best time to engage in studies, but of the course this applies for all students.

As the blog nears its ninth birthday in several posts I've mentioned the many assumptions that are exercised in certain items. Here I am in Wigan (WN4), Lancashire (all flat caps, pies and Northern Soul) and also looking South, East and West with global health a key concern. The same applies to my experience of nurse education as a mentor and sign-off mentor. I'm making what may be some very large assumptions based on the studies so far, work with students on placement and as was pointed out, nursing and health make up a small part of the strategic adoption and influence relating to an institution's learning management system [LMS]. Does anyone have any figures on this?

The assumptions are that many lecturers do not have the time, or possibly the skills to make full use of the features and potential of the LMSs. So, I am wondering about the scope for innovation to support our student's reflective skills and practice; that is, beyond written essays and forums on the LMS. Is this symptomatic of feature bloat as per office applications? Does this make the 'walls' higher? These are issues I can investigate in the brief literature review within my report submission.

So I am pursuing a qualitative study with an interpretive stance. If you are nurse lecturer for undergraduate student nurses, or other courses and including social care I would greatly appreciate your assistance with the survey already posted in the sidebar. This is an experiment too in terms of using Survey Monkey for the first time and a basic account. I'll look at Bristol Online Survey in future.

Surveys, Nursing Education, Drupal and Webform

Just before heading to Drupalcon Prague I learned of a new paper by Gill et al.:

Using a web-based survey tool to undertake a Delphi study: Application for nurse education research

Background: The Internet is increasingly being used as a data collection medium to access research participants. This paper reports on the experience and value of using web-survey software to conduct an eDelphi study to develop Australian critical care course graduate practice standards.
Methods: The eDelphi technique used involved the iterative process of administering three rounds of surveys to a national expert panel. The survey was developed online using SurveyMonkey. Panel members responded to statements using one rating scale for round one and two scales for rounds two and three. Text boxes for panel comments were provided.
Collecting data and providing feedback: For each round, the SurveyMonkey's email tool was used to distribute an individualized email invitation containing the survey web link. The distribution of panel responses, individual responses and a summary of comments were emailed to panel members. Stacked bar charts representing the distribution of responses were generated using the SurveyMonkey software. Panel response rates remained greater than 85% over all rounds.

The paper is interesting in combining surveys and an e-variant of the Delphi research method. Conclusions highlight the improved accessibility to experts and how ethics needs to keep pace with technical change and affordances.

I've mocked up a enquiry form using Webform, but this session pointed to how the module can be extended for polls and contact forms. Based on Gill et al. and the eDelphi technique they explain this could be a really powerful combination.

Thank you for participating in the first round of the research study on the response to COVID-19 among maternal and newborn health providers. Your responses and those of nearly 2,000 others have contributed to a better understanding of how maternal and newborn care is affected by the pandemic. We summarised and published the first findings here.

As the COVID-19 pandemic evolves, we need to keep tracking and responding to the needs of health professionals, and women and their families. At this time, we would like to invite you to answer the second round of this survey available here in 11 languages. It takes 15 to 30 minutes to complete.

National Survey of the Mental Health Nurses aims to understand reasons behind record vacancies

Researchers from the University of Southampton working with the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) are launching a national survey of the mental health nursing workforce.

Led by Professor Jane Ball (Professor of nursing workforce policy), it is the first to explore the work lives and wellbeing of registered nurses providing mental healthcare in the UK.
