Report - Health Misinformation: Public Perceptions of Threat to the UK

A London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine report

Published: 28 September 2026

Authors: Pete Wilton & Dr Ben Kasstan-Dabush

Foreword

The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) has a long track-record of developing innovative approaches to countering false or misleading health information (health misinformation). While health misinformation has always been with us, in the last few years changes to the technological and political landscape have enabled it to spread further and faster around the world, threatening to undermine trust in health experts and institutions.

That was why in January 2025 LSHTM launched a new initiative focusing on fighting dangerous health misinformation in the UK through interventions in the media, online, and on social media. While misinformation is global the response often has to be national or even local and what we quickly realised is that there is still a lot we don’t know about the prevalence and impact of health misinformation in the UK.

How equipped are Britons to identify false or misleading health claims? What do they do to factcheck if these claims are true? Are our fears about the harms of health misinformation on the UK population justified? And, if they are, who is being harmed and how can we help them to protect themselves? These were just some of the questions we had.

Of course one survey was never going to give us all the answers, but we believe the findings detailed in this report are an important first step towards gathering some of the ‘missing evidence’ on health misinformation in the UK. We hope that this report will help to motivate and inform all those working to make ours a healthier, stronger society.

Director, London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine

Call for Participants: Survey on Trauma-Informed Archival Practice

Dear all,

My name is Emily Hill, I am a current master's student at the University of Glasgow completing my dissertation titled:

To what extent is Trauma-Informed Archival Practice understood and used within the Archival Sector? How effective are the methods of support available to Archivists?

The aim of this dissertation is to explore the breadth of knowledge within the Archival sector surrounding Trauma-Informed Archival Practice, where professionals have learned about Trauma theory and if the mental health and secondary trauma support available is accessible and effective. There is no prior knowledge of Trauma-Informed Practice needed to participate, as these concepts are explained within the Participant information forms.

Participation in this survey will take approximately 15 minutes, including the Participant Information and Agreement forms which should be viewed and signed before participation in the survey questions.

All survey responses are received anonymised, with the data being analysed in correlation with other respondent data on a question-by-question basis.

I would be very grateful for your participation in this survey, and if you have any questions or concerns you wish to address prior to participating, please email me at 2650467H AT student.gla.ac.uk.

You can access the survey here.

Thank you in advance for your participation!

Best wishes,
Emily Hill.

Thank you in advance for your consideration, David

Survey: Identifying and Fixing Undesirable Behaviors Across Software Versions

Hello,

As part of my PhD at the University of Lille, I am currently conducting a study on how developers handle certain bug scenarios.
The goal is to better understand current practices, the tools used, and developers' needs regarding debugging in a specific scenario.

You can find the survey at the following address:
Your participation in this short questionnaire (5 - 10 minutes) would greatly help us analyze existing methods and identify potential gaps in the available solutions.
This survey will be open for 6 weeks (until May 15th, 2025). The responses will be analyzed and included in a scientific publication. The results will be available here.

If you can, please feel free to share this questionnaire with other developers who might be interested.
Every response counts and will contribute to a better understanding of the community's practices!

A big thank you for your help and time.

Best regards,
Rémi Dufloer
PhD Student, University of Lille

Bonjour,

https://sondages.inria.fr/index.php/462191?lang=en

Bien cordialement,

Dufloer Rémi

NIHR Global Health Research - collecting diversity data

NIHR invites you to help shape their approach to diversity and inclusivity within NIHR Global Health Research (GHR) funding.

NIHR wants to make sure that their approach to collecting diversity data from applicants, award holders, and committee members is effective, appropriate, and reflects the settings where global health research takes place.

Please complete NIHR’s survey on the collection of diversity data in Global Health Research to be part of informing our approach. The value of your insights and your time are greatly appreciated.

Please note: this survey is not about collecting data from research participants (research volunteers or subjects). Please answer the questions thinking about collecting data from those who apply or receive research funding and those who take part in our committees.

More details & background from survey page:

Diversity data of global health stakeholders

The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) is committed to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion and addressing inequalities. One key theme of our Research Inclusion strategy is to develop an evidence-led approach to our equalities and inclusion work.

One of the most important ways to make progress in this work is to collect diversity data and evidence. Only by collecting and analysing our diversity data can we identify the bias and under representation in our systems, and set priorities for future work.

Diversity means being reflective of the wider community. Having a diverse community, with people from a broad range of backgrounds represented in all areas and at all levels. Diversity data is data collected directly from individuals that allows them to self describe aspects of their identity.

Understanding of the concepts of equality, diversity and inclusion may differ between the UK and other countries. We want to improve the way we ask our applicants, award holders, and committee members about their diversity data.

Please note: this survey is not about collecting data from research participants (research volunteers or subjects). Please answer the questions thinking about collecting data from those who apply or receive research funding and those who take part in our committees. [Repeated above PJ].

This is your chance to shape what data we collect about you and how we categorise it.

Please complete by the 30th April 2025.

A note on language:
Throughout this document we will be referring to Low and Middle Income Countries. Every three years, the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development’s Development Assistance Committee updates its list of countries eligible for overseas development assistance. We refer to these countries as Low and Middle Income Countries (LMICs). ... continued on survey page...
